A colleague of mine wrote a post the other day about the information flow here at the UWI, St. Augustine Campus. Being a student here you are quite aware of the MANY times that you have to walk UP and DOWN campus just to get one thing done. It's absolutely ridiculous. I mean, if you have to do 3 tasks, couldn't everyone involved be briefed as to what the exact procedures are in such cases? I think we have the technology to communicate. After all, the wonderful "Add/Drop people" are on Msn Messenger all day long. So THEY know how to communicate. However, when it comes to student affairs at times, they're sorta in the dark as to what you're talking about. "There's an IT degree?!" *exasperated sigh* These people!
So, I think it's a management problem because all the infrastructure is there for effective commuication, however I wholeheartedly believe that the people responsible for disseminating that information are obviously not into the technology available to them. ALL WE ASKIN' FOR IS A 'LIL COMMUNICATION, PPL!! DAT SO HARD?!?! GOSH!!!! I know that with the implementation of new technology and new situations there are hiccups that will occur every now and again, but the consistency of the hiccups is my cause for concern. It's 2006 people, let's pull it together!!!!
